THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala government handed over an additional compensation of Rs 1.30 crore to the former scientist of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Nambi Narayanan, in the 26-year-old espionage case where he was falsely implicated.

Narayanan reacted to this decision by saying that he is happy that his legal battle was coming to an end.

The Supreme Court in 2018 ordered an interim relief of Rs 50 lakhs saying that his arrest in the case was “unnecessary and he was implicated.”

National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) had also ordered a relief of Rs 10 lakh.

The ISRO espionage case was related to allegations of transfer of certain confidential documents and secrets of the county’s cryogenic engine technology to enemy countries.

The CBI was involved but the court quashed its case.
