The torture of 13 years’ guardianship has been ended for Britney Spears as a Los Angeles judge on Friday terminated the controversial guardianship which controlled the pop star, and handed back the freedom she deserved along with control of a multi-million-dollar estate.
Her fans greeted the ruling with raucous cheers and showers of pink confetti outside the downtown courthouse.
Sharing the good news with her fans, Britney wrote on Instagram, "Best day ever... praise the Lord... can I get an Amen," using the hashtag "#FreedBritney."
The guardianship had been an abusive one for the singer, and the formal end to the guardianship came after her father Jamie Spears was removed from his position in charge of her finances and estate at a hearing in September.
"Effective today... the conservatorship of the person and estate of Britney Jean Spears is hereby terminated. And that is the order of the court," said Judge Brenda Penny." The court finds and determines that the conservatorship of the person and estate of Britney Jean Spears is no longer required," she ruled.
Britney Spears' estate is believed to be worth $60 million, according to the US media reports.
