Scotland has become the first country to introduce free universal access to period products for all girls and women.

Scotland made history by passing this bill, a policy that was under discussion for a long time. 

Menstrual products like sanitary napkins, tampons, menstrual cups etc. are expensive in several countries. 

Women's rights organisations have been demanding that the government make them tax-free because menstruation is a biological process that happens in all women that are not in their control. 

In Scotland, a campaign to make menstrual products tax free has been spearheaded by Monica Lennon who championed the issue when she was elected into parliament in 2016.
