National-level wrestler Nisha Dahiya has confirmed on Wednesday that the reports of her death are fake and informed she is fine.
"I am in Gonda to play senior nationals. I am alright. It's a fake news. I am fine," she said in a video message that was released by the Wrestling Federation of India.
The wrestler that was actually shot dead in Sonepat last night was newcomer Nisha Dahiya, and not the U-23 world championship bronze-medallist, according to the coach who is travelling with the Indian team.
The Nisha Dahiya who was shot dead along with her brother in the Sushil Kumar Wrestling Academy in Halalpur village in Sonipat, Haryana, was allegedly killed by a coach and two others. Following the incident, angry villagers set the academy on fire.
