Relu Vasave rowed across Narmada River to help tribal pregnant and children amidst the pandemic and lockdown.
The 27-year-old said to the media that the Coronavirus pandemic stopped a group of tribals from coming to her Anganwadi to collect medical checkups and nutritious food.
Therefore, she chose to go to them because she believed that food is their right.
Rowing is something she had been observing from childhood. Relu then borrowed a small boat from a local fisherman and set out to the tribal hamlets- Aligat and Dadar.
By doing so she ensured that 25 newborn and malnourished children, and seven pregnant women don’t lose out of proper care, nutrition, and medical attention.
