Andhra Pradesh Against Child Marriage Through Education 

Vasireddi Padma, the chairperson of Andhra Pradesh State Mahila Commission, said it is the responsibility of everyone to put an end to child marriages to confirm a bright future for the girls and it can be done through education. 

She expressed concern regarding the rising number of child marriages in the country. 

She said that the state government was vested in empowering the status of women and girls and seeking to introduce various historical welfare schemes like Amma Vodi, Vidya Kanuka, and Vasati Deevena, during a webinar jointly organised by the Canadian Consulate and the non-governmental organisations Children Believe and Social Action for Rural Development Society (SARDS).

Girls have become braver after the introduction of Disha Act, said Valaparla Samata, member of Bala Panchayat.

Navya Naveli Nanda, the co-founder of Aara Health, spoke about being continuously undermined for being a woman in a male-dominated profession. 

She spoke about those situations where her male counterpart ends up mansplaining and talking to her in a very condescending manner.

Women are often pressurised and pushed to prove themselves before their workers.

US Vice President-elect Kamala Harris weighed in on issues like gender and racial equality by saying that every child of America, regardless of their colour or gender, will see there's no limit to who can lead the country in eight days.

Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will be sworn in as President and Vice President of the United States respectively on January 20th.
