Smriti Irani Launches Her Debut Novel 'Lal Salaam'

NEW DELHI: Union minister Smriti Irani launched her debut novel 'Lal Salaam' , a crime thriller published by Westland, at the India International Centre, Delhi. 

She said that as a person, she stepped out of her comfort zone to live her life, and then history happened. She became an actress, a politician, a minister, and now a writer. 

Her novel 'Lal Salaam' is about the superintendent of police Vikram Singh, who is posted in Chhattisgarh’s Ambuja village and is in pursuit of justice for the murder of his friend.

drew inspiration from the April 2010 Maoist ambush of CRPF personnel near Chintalnar village in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district where 76 CRPF personnel died. 

Smriti Irani played the lead role in Balaji Telefilms’ 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.'

She is currently the women and child development (WCD) minister in the Narendra Modi led cabinet.
