23-year-old Manasa launched OPods or micro-homes in Telangana.

These micro homes comprise one bedroom with a built-up area of 120 sq ft and made out of a concrete sewerage pipe of 2000 mm diameter.

Manasa helped create this to solve the housing crisis in urban areas.

Manasa is a civil engineer who comes from a poor family herself and regards her mother as the inspiration.

Manasa also lauded the Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TSWREIS) for the education that inspired her to help others as well.

She began to work on her first model of OPods in March of 2021 keeping in mind possible weather issues and the needs of the locals.

With a cost of 3.5-5.5 lakhs, she helped in making a 40 to 120 sq ft customized movable all-weather home with a life span of 100 years.

She added that the homes have a bedroom, kitchen, hall, washroom, and shelves, all equipped with electricity, water, and drainage.
