European Union’s (EU) executive Commission launched its first strategy to protect the rights of LGBT people amidst the growing homophobia in the East. 

This is also to challenge right-wing governments in Poland and Hungary that have become increasingly homophobic.

The EU Commission Vice-President Vera Jourova said that Commission members will defend the rights of LGBT people against those who attack them from an ideological point of view.

Commission launched its LGBTIQ Equality Strategy; Lesbian Gay Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer.

76% of EU citizens said lesbians, gays, and bisexuals should have equal rights to heterosexuals.

Countries ruled by a religious dictatorship, theocracy and fundamentalism continue to deny women and LGBTQIA their rights.
