Facebook apologised after its Artificial Intelligence software labeled black men in a video as 'primates.'

Users who recently watched a video from a British tabloid featuring Black men saw an automated prompt that asked if they would like to “keep seeing videos about Primates."

After it was brought to their notice, Facebook disabled the artificial intelligence-powered feature that pushed the message and announced an investigation.

A Facebook spokesperson said that it was an unacceptable error from their end.

Darci Groves, a former content design manager at Facebook, said a friend brought this issue to her attention.

"We have made improvements to our AI, we know it’s not perfect, and we have more progress to make. We apologize to anyone who may have seen these offensive recommendations," said Dani Lever, a Facebook spokesperson.
