KOCHI, KERALA: Kerala High Court (HC) passed a judgment stating that Malayalam film sets and media houses should have Internal Committee (IC) for women to protect them from sexual harassment.
Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) had filed a public interest litigation that asked for a grievance redressal mechanism to be formed in the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) and in other organisations.
WCC was formed after a popular actress was abducted and sexually assaulted in a moving car by several men. As per the police investigation, actor Dileep is the main accused.
Chief Justice S Manikumar and Justice Shaji P Chaly were the two members on the bench of Kerala HC. Centre for Constitutional Rights Research and Advocacy joined the petition thus helping in widening the reach of the petition.
