Sister Lucy Slams Court For Failing Women Against Powerful People

NEW DELHI: Sister Lucy slammed the court for acquitting former Bishop in the rape case, saying that the court failed to protect the survivor against powerful people.
Sister Lucy was expelled from the Franciscan Clarist Congregation (FCC), for extending support to the survivor in the case.
All the nun who stood up for the survivor were slammed the church and faced pressure from various sections.
"This is illegal, unfair and atrocious,” said sister Lucy.
Sisters Anupama Kelamangalathuveliyil, Neena Rose, Josephine Villoonnickal, Ancitta Urumbil, and Alphy Pallasseril, all extended their support to the survivor nun.
Sister Lucy said that this case is battle between the powerful and the powerless. She added that Bishop Franco Mulakkal on the case with the help of money, power and political connections.
Father Augustine Vattoly, the convenor of the ‘Save Our Sisters’ Forum (SOS), said that the least the court could do is not given the Bishop any church related responsibilities.
