CBI Arrests Three In Pollachi Sexual Assault Case
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested three more men in connection with a sexual assault and extortion cases, where women were sexually assaulted and then blackmailed.
Three people who have been arrested by the CBI are Arulanatham (34), Heron Paul (29), and Babu (30). Arunathalam is the Pollachi town secretary of the AIADMK student wing.
Earlier, few others were arrested in connection to the case; Sabarirajan, Thirunavukkarasu, Sathish, and Vasanthkumar.
In a spine chilling case reported in 2019, a teen girl filed a complaint saying that the four men forcibly removed her clothes in a car and video-graphed.
Police's investigation led to believe that over 50 women may have been victims of sexual assault by a close network of men who were running this racket.
A fifth accused, R Manivannan, was arrested was is said to have confessed to raping 'a few women.'
Walayar Case To Get Retrial In Minor Rape, Suicide Case
The Kerala High Court set aside a lower court order that acquitted the accused and has ordered a retrial into the case where two girls were allegedly sexually assaulted, driving them to suicide.
The Kerala High Court bench comprised of Justices A Hariprasad and MR Anita has also ordered all the four accused in the case to appear before the trial court later this month.
Two girls, aged 13 and 9, were found dead a few days apart in 2017. The younger girl saw her sister being assaulted and testified against the perpetrators.
Later, the younger sister was also found hanging in the same shed.
Four men, V Madhu, M Madu, Pradeep Kumar, and a juvenile boy, were first arrested in the case.
In October 2019, Palakkad Special Court had acquitted all the four accused in the case. A month later, Pradeep, the third accused in the case, was found dead at his residence in Alappuzha.
