Rani Rampal Speaks About Tokyo Olympics, Marriage Pressures

NEW DELHI: Rani Rampal said that she is looking forward to seeing the Indian hockey team qualify for the Tokyo Olympics. The team is working hard and the games have been postponed to next year. 

Rani recently made history as the first woman hockey player to be awarded the nation’s highest sporting honour, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna.

She said that it is an honour for her to win the award and it will encourage more women to enter hockey or other forms of sports.

She belonged to a low-income household in Shahabad Markanda in Haryana. 

Her parents are facing pressures from relatives to get her married. She said that marriage is not her priority right now and her parents respect that.
