NEW DELHI: BCCI President Sourav Ganguly thanked former Indian skipper MS Dhoni for choosing to become Team India's mentor for the upcoming T20 WorldCup.

T20 World Cup will be held in UAE and Oman in October-November this year.

Dhoni led the Indian cricket team to victory in both 2007 T20 World Cup in South Africa and the 2011 ODI World Cup in India. He also led India to victory in the 2013 Championships trophy against Sri Lanka.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah earlier said current captain Virat Kohli supported the move to have Dhoni.

Dhoni is playing with the IPL team Chennai Super Kings and he is gearing up for the resumption of the league from September 19 in the UAE.
