NEW DELHI: Dr. Randeep Guleria, Director of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), expressed his concerns about how the rising air pollution combined with coronavirus infection will lead to serious consequences.

The Union health ministry data revealed that nearly half the people who have died of COVID-19 are aged below 60 years.

The majority of COVID-19 related fatalities happen due to comorbidities like diabetes, heart problems, lung issues, etc.

India, especially the capital Delhi-NCR, witnessed a severe degree of air pollution.

Lung complications combined with COVID-19 infection can possibly lead to serious consequences.

Due to the prevalence of respiratory illnesses, the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has warned Delhi of witnessing around 15,000 Covid-19 cases daily in winter.
