Watch These 5 Friendship Movies This Weekend

BP World Bureau | Nov 12 2022 07:06:44 AM

Cinephiles have made time this weekend to see Uunchai, directed by Sooraj Barjatya. It is his follow-up to Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015) as a filmmaker. Four elderly pals are the subject of the film Uunchai, which stars Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, and Danny Denzongpa. After a terrible incident, they resolve to travel to Mount Everest together in order to grant their friend's final desire.

While Uunchai is a heartwarming film that will have you laughing and crying at the same time, Bollywood has given us many films where the lead actors' on-screen friendships have changed our perceptions of what a friend is. For instance, the names Jai and Veeru from the movie Sholay are synonymous with strong friendship.

How can Bikram and Bala from Gunday be forgotten? Or Circuit and Munna Bhai from Munna Bhai M.B.B.S.? These people have given us friendship aspirations.

So, if you like Uunchai, go back and watch the next five best on-screen friendships this weekend:

Sholay on Prime Video

One of the first few movies that come to mind when we think about friendship is Ramesh Sippy's 1975 blockbuster.

Gunday on Amazon Prime

In real life, Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor's dosti surpassed this Ali Abbas Zafar film. "Ek baar jiske saath jee liye, marte bhi ussi ke sath hai" refers to them as thugs. When both of them fall in love with the same girl, their friendship with Bikram Bose (Ranveer) and Bala (Arjun) hits a hard patch. Like always, they manage to get through the difficult moments and come out stronger as a team.

Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. on both Netflix and Prime Video

It's uncommon to find a pairing with the chemistry of Murliprasad Sharma (Sanjay Dutt), who plays Munna Bhai, and Sarkeshwar Sharma (Arshad Warsi), who plays Circuit. In this 2003 movie, their friendliness and humour will still make you smile. For those of you who may not remember, Munna is a mobster with a kind heart who decides to pursue his father's ambition of becoming a doctor.

3 Idiots on Netflix and Amazon Prime Video

Aamir Khan as Rancho, R Madhavan as Farhan, and Sharman Joshi as Raju brought back memories of our college years like never before in this Rajkumar Hirani-directed movie. Kareena Kapoor plays Rancho's love interest in the movie 3 Idiots, which is based on Chetan Bhagat's book Five Point Someone. Boman Irani plays the trio's professor.

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai - Netflix and Amazon Prime Video

Rahul and Anjali demonstrated to us that friends make our lives better and are there for us no matter what. As amazing as their relationship was off-screen, Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol had great chemistry on-screen. Karan Johar, a personal friend of the couple, directed Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.
