WCD Ministry Says Girls' School Dropout Rate Is 17.3%

NEW DELHI: Women and Child Development Ministry (WCD) released a report which revealed that there was 17.3% in secondary education level and 4.74% at the elementary level in 2018-19. 

During these years, states that recorded school dropout rates are Karnataka, Assam, Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh, and Tripura.

Smriti Irani also said that the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights registered 111 complaints of child marriage last year amidst the pandemic, lockdown, or economic repercussions. 

The average dropout rate was 18.39% at the secondary education level and 4.1% at the elementary level in 2017-18.
