WASHINGTON, US: United States President Joe Biden slammed the existing social media misinformation about COVID-19 being spread. There are posts against vaccinations that suggest that they are killing people.
The White House said Facebook needs to clean up this act of letting misinformation stay online.
"The only pandemic we have is among the unvaccinated," said President Biden.
Facebook pushed back at the White House claims, saying that these are accusations that are not supported by facts.
Over 2 billion people have viewed authoritative information about Covid-19 and vaccines on Facebook, a Facebook spokesperson told media portals.
Facebook added that the team is taking aggressive action against misinformation about Covid-19 and vaccines to protect the public.
President had said that the nation is witnessing a spike in the number of cases because of those people who are not vaccinated.
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said that social media companies like Facebook are not doing enough to stop misinformation.
Globally, there are 18,88,90,746 cases of COVID-19, and out of that, there are 6,04,57,405 active cases, 12,43,67,271 people recovered and 40,66,070 people died.
